The Imaginarium Theater, a new advanced combat mode in Genshin Impact, launched on July 1, 2024. This guide offers a detailed look at Season 2 for Version 4.8, including how the Imaginarium Theater works, the requirements for unlocking it, and the rewards available.
Season 2 of the Imaginarium Theater, Version 4.8, will take place from August 1, 2024, to August 31, 2024. This article provides insights and tips to help players excel during this period.
Imaginarium Theater Element Needs
In the second season of the Imaginarium Theater, the emphasis is on Anemo, Cryo, and Hydro elements. This season, only characters with these specific elements are eligible to participate in the Theater's challenges. However, Special Guests are not bound by this elemental restriction.
Opening Characters and Special Guests in August
In the Imaginarium Theater, you must use the main protagonists as your primary team members, while Special Guests can be used in supporting roles. If you don't have the required Opening Character or if they don't meet the necessary criteria, a trial version will be provided for you to use.
Please note that the character Emilie will not be available for play until her character banner is officially released, scheduled for server time on August 6, 2024.
Additionally, if you do not have the Special Guest characters and cannot obtain them through a friend's assistance, you will be unable to use any alternative characters in the Theater.
Fantastical Blessing for August: Once this season's Opening Characters join your party, their Max HP, Attack, and Defense will be increased by 20%.
In the Imaginarium Theater, the effects of Fantastical Blessings apply to the Opening Characters, boosting their abilities not only within the Theater but also throughout the entire game.
All levels of Challenge Difficulty and the formidable Boss Enemies
Certain Acts in the narrative feature set Boss Enemies that represent the story's antagonistic forces. These stages with Bosses differ in difficulty and the objectives they require.
Preparation Period
Six characters have been designated in advance to assume the roles of the Opening Characters.
At the start of the Preparation Phase, a specific set of characters is designated as the Opening Characters. You must use these selected characters exclusively; however, if you are missing any of them, you can choose a Trial version to fill in.
The six characters chosen for the Principal Cast will benefit from Fantastical Blessings, which provide tailored enhancements. These boosts apply not only within the Imaginarium Theater but also across the broader gameplay experience and remain active throughout the challenge phase.
If you have the characters in the Principal Cast, the benefits of these buffs will be continuously applied to them for the entire season they are featured.
Opt for the Trial Version if your character lacks the ideal build or is not fully prepared.
If you’re concerned about your character’s build, choose the Trial character version; these Trial characters are designed to be strong and capable enough to effectively complete the stages.
For the Alternate Cast, you can only use characters with specific elemental attributes or those designated as Special Guest Stars.
After finalizing your selection of Opening Characters, you'll choose 12 characters for the Alternate Cast. The selection must align with the elemental focus specified for the current month, though Special Guest Stars are exempt from this restriction and can be included regardless of their element.
You also have the option to include 1 Supporting Cast member from a friend’s roster.
You have the option to enlist one 'Supporting Cast' character from your friends, who will serve as part of the Alternate Cast. This Supporting Cast member will reflect the Constellation and build from your friend's profile, allowing you to experience the playstyle of characters with higher Constellations, if your friends have such characters.

When selecting your characters, aim for a strategic balance between Support and Damage roles. Since you cannot control the appearance of Alternate Cast members directly, it's important to ensure a mix of healing and damage-dealing characters. With the option to choose 12 Alternate Cast members, an optimal approach is to distribute them as follows: 4 characters each for DPS, Sub-DPS, and Sustain roles.
Characters experience a gradual depletion of Vigor as they progress through the Challenge
A distinctive feature of the Imaginarium Theater is its unique Vigor System, which provides each character with two stacks of Vigor. These stacks deplete with each battle engagement, and once exhausted, the character can no longer participate in the fight.
This system requires careful management of your character rotation, considering the remaining Vigor stacks. Unlike the Abyss, where strategy focuses on team synergy and elemental interactions, the Vigor System emphasizes the careful allocation and preservation of character resources throughout the encounters.
Utilize Fantasia Flowers to initiate Special Events
In each act, you will encounter various events to choose from. Fantasia Flowers are used as currency to participate in Companion Events, Wondrous Boons, or to unlock Mystery Caches. After completing any of these events, you will return to the event selection interface to make additional choices.
Opportunity for External Audience Support
Additionally, you might receive unsolicited External Audience Support. This support can take different forms, such as awarding you extra Fantasia Flowers or enhancing an existing Wondrous Boon.
Successfully engage and overcome a Battle Event to conclude the Act
To complete an act, players must successfully finish a Battle Event. Before choosing a Battle Event, players can preview the adversaries and objectives involved. Remember, Fantasia Flowers can only be earned by successfully completing these Battle Events.
Engage in Conversations with Companions During Intermissions Between Acts
After completing an Act, you can take a leisurely stroll around the theater lobby before continuing with the show. The lobby features the characters you've recently interacted with, giving you the opportunity to engage in conversation with them.
Initiate a New Run or Retrace Steps in the Current Performance
If players face challenges in reaching their goals, they have two options: Restart or Rewind their Performance. The Restart feature enables a fresh attempt at the current Battle Event within the same Act. The Rewind option, on the other hand, takes players back to the Act following their last successful Boss encounter.
The Rewind function serves as a retreat to the most recent checkpoint
If you choose to Rewind from Act 5, you will be taken to the beginning of Act 4, right after completing Act 3. Additionally, your characters' status, Vigor levels, and Fantasia Flowers will be restored to their state at the end of Act 3.
Claim your Rewards Post-Performance
After successfully completing all Acts in an Imaginarium Theater Performance, you become eligible to collect the Performance Tour Rewards. Alternatively, you can choose to end the Performance early by going to the Performance Details section within the ongoing Challenge.
